A high intensity flash of filtered light is administered through the IPL applicator head. The pigment in the hair (melanin) rapidly absorbs the light energy, transferring it to surrounding cells and raising cell temperatures. This heat alters the cells making them incapable of further hair growth.

Dark hair is more easily treated due to the high concentration of melanin, which provides maximum light absorption and conversion of light energy into heat. White hair has no melanin and cannot be efficiently treated.

Non-invasive and virtually pain-free, the glass applicator head is placed in contact with the surface of the skin. Light is pulsed through it and repeated area by area.

The treatment times vary according to the area being treated, for example an upper lip would take just 5 minutes to perform, basic bikini 10-15 minutes and half a leg 20 minutes.
